Fun Activities For The Festive Season || Christmas 2020

Hey guys!

Your favorite girl is back again with a new blogmas post! How’ve you been doing? What’s the latest? And your plans for Christmas 2020? I don’t know why but I feel this Christmas will be the best one yet. I mean this year has been weird so it’s only right that Christmas is amazing. Because of this, I have decided to compile series of activities that you can do for Christmas. Something from the regular rice and stew (don’t beat me 😂)

If you’re Nigerian you’ve probably haven’t done anything really interesting during Christmas other than the regular “go to church”, “eat rice” and “drink mineral”, that’s why I decided to compile this list for you. You can use it as a bucket list for Christmas and check things out when you’ve completed it. Isn’t that fun!? Let’s get into this interesting list!

Take Pictures with Santa

No, I didn’t say take your child to sit on Father Christmas’ lap. I said you should take pictures with Santa, a mini photo shoot, something cute, just relive your childhood and see how much fun it’ll be. I’m sure you won’t be able to explain the joy your heart will feel when you do this. I’m not crazy guys! Try it!

Bake Christmas Themed Cookies

I’m a big fan of baking so I’m introducing you to it. It’s so fun guys! From making the dough, creating the shape, don’t get me started on decorating🥺. It may not seem like a Nigerian thing to do, but trust me on this one. It’s also good for family bonding time (isn’t that what Christmas is all about?)

Create Homemade Gifts

DIY toys, pillows, picture frames? All these are great ideas for gifts (you don’t even need a lot of money for this), pair this with good music and you have yourself a self care day! If you need options these are great examples;

Create DIY/ Personal Cards

Everyone loves personal gifts, showing them you care in writing (most likely written in your hand writing). Especially if that person is me (will you believe I have my birthday cards from secondary school?). If the person you are creating this for loves stuff like this expect them to keep this forever.

Create a Christmas Themed Playlist

Christmas music and hot chocolate? A match made in heaven! Create a playlist with some Christmas classics – Mariah Carey is a staple artist when creating this. If you don’t have her on yours recheck your playlist.

Indulge Yourself in Christmas Movies

This shouldn’t be hard to find if you have a Netflix account because that’ll probably be the first thing you see when you open your account. A regular would be Home Alone (you’ve probably watched this already), A Christmas Story is also a fave. There are a hundred and one Christmas movies to pick from (I have a post coming up on this, so keep your eyes on this page)

Attend Service/ Mass at Church on Christmas Eve

It’s only right you do this seeing that He is the reason for the season, a mass is held at midnight to dedicate the holiday season to God and the birth of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter your religion, it’d be a great way to celebrate Christmas eve.

Donate Clothes, Food or Toys to Someone

You know those clothes you’ve not used in over a year? Now is the time to give them out, I mean you’re not using them anymore why not give them out? This is one activity I’m definitely doing, I have a whole lot that just sit in a bag doing nothing. Food and toys are not left out in this party, a lot of people have nothing to eat this Christmas, so help them in anyway you can.

Hang Christmas Stockings

You read that right babies, hang your stockings! This is one Christmas tradition I have always wanted to get on. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it this year, but I’m sure you can. Try something new, do something different, this is a great way to start!

Dress Up and Attend a Holiday Party

This is a definite plan for Christmas 2020 for me. I really want to do this one (I’ve never gone for one guys), I want to play dress up, get my hair done, do my makeup and head out for a party. At this point it’s a necessity, if you’re hosting one invite your girl out please and thank you!

Spend Time with Family or Friends Wrapping Gifts

If you’ve ever packed gifts or goodies with a lot of people you know good the conversations are! You find yourself chatting and talking about different things, remembering different things and just having a really great time. If you haven’t done this before I suggest you do so.

Take a Family Christmas Photo

This is one of the cutest activities to do this season, from deciding the theme, then choosing outfits, to picking the right location. I really love the idea of taking family pictures especially when they are done annually.

Make Your Christmas List

You know that list you wrote when you were growing up, where you wrote all the stuff you wanted for Christmas and gave your parents to get you (which they never did)? Write that list again! Write out what you want for Christmas, share it with people or even get yourself a few things from the list. Treat yourself baby!

Start a Holiday Tradition

Whether it is to wear an ugly sweater every year or to decorate your Christmas tree start something. I hope to start the Christmas tree tradition at my house and maybe themed clothing (this is a strong maybe). You can start one or two traditions at your house and see how long you’ll be able to keep up.

Buy Your Christmas Clothes

Are you really a Nigerian if you didn’t know this? I can bet a few of you already have your clothes sitting in your closets. I’m still looking for one that is affordable and matches my style, when I do I’ll update you!

Host Dinner or Lunch for your Loved Ones

This is my forte, I’m always the one to suggest this, and I’ll like to believe that I’m great at this. If you’ll like a table inspiration or decor inspiration let me know in the comment section or send me a DM, I’ll be happy to help.

Go Out and Rate Christmas Decorations

No you’re not jobless, you just want to rate decorations from a scale of 1-10 is that such a bad thing 😂. I’ve never done this or seen anyone do this, but I believe it’ll be great to do with friends or that special someone.

Get a Gift For Yourself

It’s always give someone this gift not give yourself a gift. I’m a firm believer of giving yourself gifts and spoiling yourself, if you don’t do this who do you expect to. That dress on your wishlist shouldn’t be during Christmas, that kit? Get it for yourself baby!

Volunteer

Christmas is all about love, peace and sharing. Volunteer somewhere, at a homeless shelter or a motherless baby home or even a church! Find out a place that is looking for volunteers and help them out.

Plan an Activity Filled Day For the Little Ones

Make this Christmas an event filled one for your children or siblings. Plan different games, activities, hire acts. Just do something fun for them.

Remember to enjoy yourself this festive season! Share with me any other activity you think needs to be on this list. To make it easier I created a checklist to help you cross out stuff from your list. You can save it below!
