They Served us What!? || A Restaurant Review – The Lagos Bistro.

Hey guys!!

Unlike other days my excitement is spiked today, I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m updating my blog with a post, or the fact that my blog got a whole new revamp! (show your self around, I know you want to). Today I’m bringing to you another restaurant review! This restaurant has been getting so much buzz here in Abuja and I decided to check it out with some friends. Lagos Bistro is a restaurant located at 7 Hombori Street, Wuse 2 and it claims to bring the Lagos vibe to Abuja. Does it live up to this? Keep reading to find out!

We got there and the first thing I noticed was how colorful this place was. Honestly, even if you don’t want to eat there, just go, admire and take one or two pictures (you didn’t get this advice from me, please and thank you 😂), the décor was well thought out, the attention to details, the inclusion of Nigeria in small ways, the good aspects of Lagos were definitely included. I immediately whipped out my phone and started making videos, because how can I leave you guys in the shadow? I had to share it with you!

If you read the title before reading, this was probably what you were looking for – the food! A complimentary plate of puff puff is served on every table before bringing the orders, and the puff puff was actually good, the mixture was on point and it wasn’t hard or over fried. Now let’s get into what we ordered, For drinks I had the Bistro Twist and my friends had the Watermelon & Cucumber and Pina Colada respectively and it tasted rich, I enjoyed how mine tasted – very citrusy and tangy.

For the meals I ordered Szechwan Chilli Chicken with Basmati Rice, one of my friends ordered the Chicken Suya Wrap and the other ordered Asun and also got a Fillet fish with French fries. My meal tasted okay, nothing so spectacular, just true to taste, my only complain would be portion size of my sauce; it wasn’t so small but it wasn’t big either, almost like they didn’t have enough😂. The Suya wrap wasn’t bad either, it tasted like the regular wraps you can have here in Nigeria.

The Fillet fish on the other hand was a complete disaster. If you’re into cooking or you know a thing or two about cooking, you’ll know that when you cook fish that has stayed in the freezer for a long time it tastes bland and dry in the mouth and that’s exactly how my friends meal tasted. Not only did it taste bad, the insides also looked really grey (check picture below). Now, I’m not saying this restaurant needs to cancel out fish from its menu, heck! You may even go there and have an amazing fish fillet, all I’m saying is whoever the cook was that day needs to check what they cook.

The price range was on the same range as a good average of restaurants in Abuja. It wasn’t so expensive, even if it claims to be a bistro (a small inexpensive restaurant), I can’t really blame them (the rent and other amenities to keep that place up is probably really expensive).

The waiters were pleasant, we had this amazing one walk up to us when we arrived, I didn’t catch her name but she was really good at her job. The service wasn’t so bad, but they need to work on their wait time. It is so long, I’ll advise you to come with someone, you’re going to need it to gist away time.

Rating The Lagos Bistro as whole I’ll give it a strong 7.5. That is, a 9/10 for Ambience and Décor, 6/10 for Food 6/10, 8/10 for Service and a 7/10 for Price. Is it worth the hype? I can’t say Yes a 100%, but I would advice you come and check it out for yourself!

That brings me to the end of this review! would you be visiting? have you been too The Lagos Bistro? Is it worth the Hype? Let me know in the comment section!

I can’t wait to hear from you and remember,
