How to Create a Vision Board That Works | The Chika Ibe

Hey guys!

But that’s not the only reason for me being here today, on today’s post I’ll be teaching you all about vision boards, how to create one and how they work. I’ll show you how to create both a digital vision board and a physical one. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in keep reading!

First off, what is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a tool created to remind you on all that you want to achieve in a particular period of time, through the use of pictures and words.

My 2021 Vision Board

How to create a Vision Board (Physical)

The first thing you should do when you have decided on creating a vision board is to write down your goals that you’ll want to achieve at the end of that time period (year, month, week). You can even go a far as grouping them in classes – I grouped mine into three (personal, work and miscellaneous).

Now, you have written down your goals. this is where your craftsmanship comes in and for this you will need these items;

  • Board (a cork board, cardboard paper, wall etc.)
  • Scissors
  • Holding material (glue, tape, pins etc.)
  • Pictures (pictures from magazines or printed out pictures)

I used a white cardboard paper, scissors, uhu glue stick and pictures from Pinterest (you can use any one, it’s all up to you)

If you decide to go the magazine route, now is the time you want to start flipping through magazines and cutting out the pictures you need. I’m not that patient so I searched for pictures aligning with my goals and pasted them on a blank document and started cutting it out.

Once you are done with cutting, the next step will be for you to arrange them in the categories you chose when writing down your goals.

After separating them, you move them to your board and figure out how you want the arrangement to be. This step isn’t necessary, but it makes the sticking process less overwhelming.

You’re done deciding, now you start sticking them down (I’m Nigerian so I said short “it shall be so” prayers while sticking them 😅)

That’s all you need! You’ve decided your goals, selected pictures that go with it and pasted them on your board. All you need to do is hang it up where you can see it so you don’t forget these goals!

Creating a Digital Vision Board

For this, you just need two apps; Pinterest and Canva

You’ve already decided you goals. What you need to do after this is go on your Pinterest app and search for key words in these goals you have written out.

Go to your Canva app and search for wallpaper – this depends on you now (either a desktop wallpaper or phone wallpaper).

Add all the pictures you want and arrange them in the way that best suits your preference and write “2021 Vision Board” (the write up is not compulsory, it’s just there as a reminder)

The next thing to do is to save the picture as an image and set it as your wallpaper.

I personally prefer the physical option, there’s just this feeling with doing something with your hands and seeing it (by God’s grace) come to past.

How does it work?

You know that saying, “from your mouth to God’s ears”. You have to believe that these goals would come to past. That doesn’t mean you should create a vision board and just sit there and watch it. You actually have to do the work, and at the same time believe that it’s going to work out.

This is my very first vision board. You for sure know I am scared, but that’s not stopping me. I know that all and more would come through and I’ll be back to let you guys know. Just watch this space!😉

That brings me to the end of my post for today. I hope I made it easy to follow. Which vision board will you be creating? Digital or physical? Would you be creating one at all? Do you believe in vision boards? Let me know in the comment section. I’ll love to read your takes.

Happy New Year,

Chika ❤️
